The first issue of the journal was published in September 1981. Until the autumn of 2016, Intercura reported twice a year on various topics in healthcare. The journal was published by the Geriatric Service (Nursing Centres), the Psychiatric-Psychological Outpatient Clinic and the Municipal Health Service of the City of Zurich.
