The Swiss National Museum publishes since 1939 a periodical on art of a scientific character. Each of the quarterly issues contains several fundamental contributions written by recognized specialists on a specific subject from the field of Swiss archaeology and history of art. The unique and traditional style of the periodical is the result of the contributors’ competence, the novelty of their findings and the variety of subjects treated, plus the attractive presentation and the large number of illustrations. Issues concentrating on one topic are followed by numbers on a variety of subjects. The periodical also reviews new publications relative to ist sphere of action.
